Yep, it's pretty heavy. We have forks for our tractor, so we are able to move it around and deliver them locally. Otherwise, it would be really hard to get them anywhere.

I'm finishing up my 3rd coop tomorrow. It due to be delivered on the 10th. I really need a break, I've not caught up on my other orders yet either, and I want to get my breeder coop built. I just need more time and energy.

I used to wish there were two of me

so I could get more things done.... then I realized there would just be that many more kids wanting to be held, dishes to be washed at the same time, weeds to be hoed two areas at a time, etc etc etc.

Lonecowboy, if you ever get those plans together, I'd love to see a copy! I don't think I would EVER be able to build something like that from scratch, looks great! If you don't mind me asking, not counting labor, what do they actually cost to build?

About $170 ish. Depends on what's available cheap, or I have scraps to cover. I cut costs by buying 2X4's and riping them on the table saw at 1-1/2 inches, then I use the little left over piece (about 1/4 thick) in the middle for the trim work around the edges. Now if you bought 2X2's and firring strips to do that with, you'd be into it a lot more. 2x4's here are 1.92 each, 2x2's are 1.62 and firring strips are .88 each. So, I save approx. $28 each coop, just by ripping the 2X4's myself. I have lots of scrap to make the shutters so that's not taken into account either. But those are just cedar fencing planks.

I just bought a TurboCAD, so hopefully, I'll be able to draw up the plans soon. Just have to learn how to use it. Shouldn't be hard, most drafting programs think a lot alike and I've used lots of programs over the last 25 years. Just another time issue :|

LoneCowboy what type of tools do you use? Do you have an air compressor? If so what type of nail gun do you use to build it? I am planning on buying an air staple gun soon but I wanted to know if I should invest in a framing nailer?

Yes, I have an air compressor. I use a staple gun for most of the work on the sheeting material (about 1-1/4 staples). It does less damage to the siding. I use a framing nailer for the framing parts, and a brad nailer for some of the finish touches.

Thanks for the compliments. I've made a few revisions to the design this last time I built it, and I'm thinking of a few others for the next time, so it's still a work in progress. I have another ordered with 2 nesting boxes so this should be interesting.
