finally starting laying again -- anyone else?

I don't give extra light, so my gals pretty much stopped laying altogether for the past couple months. There was a 2- or 3-wk period when I think I got a grand total of 1 egg, from the campine (who is btw a layin' machine, as non sex links go).

But a week ago I started getting an egg or two every day, and three yesterday, and four today. (This is from 7 sussex pullets and 1 campine; I also have 2 stupid chantecler pullets that have not laid a single egg yet, grrr). So, I *think* we're back in business.

Anyone else?

Congrats... go give your girls a hug! I got my very first egg from my going on 8 month old EE two days ago! I know it was from her because it's the first blue/green egg I've ever gotten

I also don't use artificial light either and between my 21 pullets/hens I'm only getting 3 to 5 eggs per day.

That's good to hear, Pat, and the daylight *is* increasing. Now if the daylight offered lots of sunshine...we'd be laughing.

I don't have any artificial light either, I also have no eggs. Well I did get two yesterday which was more than I have gotten in the last week total

My 6 girls ( 4 white leghorns, 2 RIR ), never stopped. Maybe slowed a teeny bit. They're 8 mos old. We're currently getting 4-5 eggs per day, with no artificial light ( except a heat lamp two nights so far ).

Mine have also started laying again. I have around 30 hens about 10 months old. Starting to get anywhere from 10-15 a day. Couple weeks ago I was getting 2-3. No artificial lights here either.

My nine BRs were due to lay last November around the 15th. I got my first egg shortly after and now I'm up to about 6 to 8 eggs a day--no extra light. I was wondering if you wre getting eggs yet--I knew we got chicks at about the same time. Sorry though--I don't mean to gloat (b/c I 'm getting eggs and your not)

Gotta love those leghorns...mine hasn't stopped even with no artificial light and lots of valley fog. The NHR is trying to keep up. Every few days from the australorp and RIR. Nothing yet from the Delaware tho she's due right about now. Still, now that Christmas baking is over we've plenty of eggs for ourselves. (Only had to buy one dozen during the cookie baking rush).

Yeah, my ISA Browns laid all thru last winter without a blip despite no lights. That was their first winter. This winter, only one of the three is still alive (lost the other two to internal laying type 'female troubles') and she has become an internal layer too, has stopped laying and seems comfortable enough but I'm sure her days are numbered.

So actually I am perfectly content to have my sussexes slack off in wintertime, if it means their reproductive systems are less in hyperdrive overall. Not sayin' this happens to ALL chickens that lay all winter, just that my experience with the three ISA Browns makes a lull seem pretty acceptible at the moment

I guess I will just have to keep wishing most of the girls are a month out from their molt but others just started theirs and I don't expect anything from them but hopefully the girls who are out of molt start again. Congrats on the eggs everyone I hate buying eating eggs
