finally starting laying again -- anyone else?

My chickens never stopped laying. No extra lights either. My phoenix crosses slowed a bit,but all the others lay the same.

I had picked up a flock of 2 year old underfed Brahmas, Austrolorps, EEs and a couple other as yet unidentified birds, 20 in all. After they settled in, started a decent diet, and I gave them a 60 watt bulb for extra hours of light, they have started giving up eggs. It took 10 days. Monday was 1 egg, Tuesday, 3, and today, we got 4 more. Yum, Yum!!

All of my hens stopped laying in November except for one Chantecler. When the temperatures started getting below 0 F., I turned on a heat lamp, which also added the visible light needed to re-induce laying. Two weeks later and all of my hens are laying again.

BTW: The Chanteclers were earliest to start laying, the last to stop, and are my best foragers. They are also quite broody, so I plan to let them increase numbers in the Spring.

Same deal here. It was hard to have to tell my egg customers through the holidays that I just didn't have any eggs to sell them. I did get 3 eggs yesterday and so far today, it's been one. Glad to hear that your chickens seem to be back in business again! I'm hoping for that hear also!

I moved my flock to their own run a day before Thanksgiving, and have not had a single egg since then. Oh well! Since I try to go "all natural" with almost everything I do, I've decided against adding light, and to just let them rest through the winter. (Good thing I can buy eggs from the farm where I buy my unpasteurized, yummy milk, too).

We had gone down to about 3 eggs from 17 a day..then it was anywhere between 3 to 7 a day for about 2 weeks....in december...within the past few days we are back up to about a dozen a day...we did get 17 the other day and that is the same as our record was right before they dropped to 3 a day..we have 24 that are a few days away from being 9 months old....we have added a timer light a few weeks ago to give them 3 extra hours in the morning...light is off at 6pm and then when its really cold we've been having the 1 red heat bulb going to keep it a little warmer in there...

Mine went on strike for 2 months.
The day after Christmas I bummed 8 eggs from a co-worker who has hens. That day 2 of the 4 hens each laid an egg

Guess they felt threatened!

So far since 12/26 we've gotten a total of 10 eggs from the 4 mature hens. We're having a big breakfast of them tomorrow!!
