I know that the chickens *could* use the horizontal nipple waterer because the water level went down, but I'd never actually seen them use it.

Yesterday I saw first Chipotle and then both Cordon and Teriyaki using the nipples.

Now I'm much more confident about them.

Excellent......water levels matter more, IMO, but good to see them using it.

I forgot to get fresh photos before it got dark, but here's one from when I first made my olive bucket nipple waterer:

I also have a tuna salad container with 3 nipples in it. That one has to be more carefully secured because the birds can knock it over.

Both have tiny holes bored into the sides to relieve any possible vacuum.

(Olive bucket and tuna salad container come from the deli where I work. I have a near unlimited supply of food-grade plastic containers ranging in size from 1 qt to 1 gallon).

Or you can use bottles and make holders for them.

@Tre3hugger Here's the other waterer.

The thinner plastic was trickier to drill and I had to be VERY careful trimming out the holes with a razor knife, but I like being able to see the water level in this one.

Unfortunately, being smaller, it can be knocked over when set inside the coop where the ladies crowd around it.
