Fine, oily, tangly hair... Home remedies?

there is a neutrogena shampoo!?

Yes ma'am. It's about $6 for a fairly small bottle, but it keeps product and environment build up to a minimum, so your hair always looks clean. I've been using it since I was 10 years old.

ohhh i will have to look into that!!! thanks lol

First thing I would ask a client is when is the last time you got a hair cut? Also I will ask you since I can't see it, how long is your hair now? I will be willing to put money on the fact that you need at least 5 inches cut off. As for oily, what kind of shampoo are you using now? My opinion on what to do with the oil depends on that answer. Are you using conditioner? How are you using conditioner and what kind are you using? Is your hair chemically treated, ie have you done anything to it in the past 5 years, bleach, color even temporary, sun in or any of the like all count. Do you swim often? What kind of working environment are you in?

All that will give me a good idea on what to suggest.

I never even thought of all that stuff!!! I also just noticed the thread is asking for HOME REMEDIES! I totally missed that the first time I answered.

Personally, I keep my hair trimmed, only use conditioner in sparing amounts as a detangler and frizz control. I have naturally curly hair so I use a straightener sometimes, not always. I don't swim, and of course its chemically treated. I am old.

This is not a home or natural remedy, but a body perm will give you more hair, and make it a lot more manageable. I have baby fine hair too, but a ton of it, and finally just got it cut off short and I think I am going to keep it that way. I was worried about always having that perm bleach soaking into what little brain cells I have, and decided DH was just going to have to like me "aunaturelle".

Well I didn't have much in the way of home remedies to offer, but I thought I could at least look at the routine she has going now. Keeping it trimmed is good, so is using conditioner, especially if your hair is curly. I am going to guess by chemically treated because you are old you are covering grey. Evil, wire like grey hair. I started going grey at 19, thankfully it hasn't progressed much yet. I would suggest using a conditioner daily since curly hair is naturally drier and grey is evil, not to mention the color. It's safe to put it on mostly the ends. Thing from the end of your hair to your chin. Then do all over every couple of washings. You would also benefit from washing every other day as opposed to every day. I don't you weren't looking for help, but I thought I would offer anyway..I am pushy like that.

Why would you use rubbing alcohol on your hair? Your scalp is skin just like your face. The more to try to strip away all oil, the more it produces to make up for what it's lacking. Not to mention I would be afraid rubbing alcohol would make very fine hair even more brittle.

I just had a bout with the oilies! The transition to summer is always tough on my hair. It gets so oily, I can't go more than 24 hours without washing it or it is disgusting. It got to the point where I'd wash it and it was still gross.

Here's what I did:

Ion Crystal Clarifying Treatment

Herbal Essences Drama Clean
Shampoo and conditioner, but never put the conditioner closer than 3 inches from your scalp. I just keep a brush in the shower and brush it through the bottom half of my hair. Then after I rinse it's pretty much untangled already. My stylist still asks every time she washes my hair "Is your hair always this knotted?" Yup, unless you know the trick.

Cheap fixes. Good luck!
