Very nice henhouse and pen!! Thank you for all the progress pictures.

The only thing I would recommend, and this is just me, I wouldn't keep water in the henhouse at all. As long as they have access to the pen outside, I'd keep it out there. The reason is, mine always got the bedding wet and it stunk to high heaven. So I'd just put it outside. That block you have the waterer in is great though, it'll keep bedding out of the water.

Thanks! And yes, the water will go outside, but my hens are only about 5 weeks old, and still stay inside at night because it's a bit chilly, so they need their water in there for now.. it will eventually be hanging outside

I'm glad everyone likes it! I was lucky enough that my boyfriends dad IS professional builder, who happened to be laid off for the time being... bad for him, good for us!

And joliet is about a half hour south of Chicago, IL

Like I said when I introduced myself I know nothing about chickens and bylaws, but are you all allowed to have a coop in your backyard ?It looks like you live in town..

Sorry if it is a stupid question I guess things are done differently all over..
