Just sayin we have had several big dogs and no choking on tennis balls has happened.
Oh yeah, I’ve never known it to happen either even with our huge Lab/Pyrenees but I actually meant about the weights mentioned and what breed they were haha cause I thought you had a Golden that big 😂🤣 🙈

Maybe the standard has changed, but apparently the proper weight is 60-75 pounds for males, but I know that both of his parents were show winners.
They don’t have to weigh them for shows I don’t think so as long as they met other requirements, it’s possible they were bigger. Although they probably shouldn’t have been breeding out of standard dogs. But it’s also possible they were fat too or at least a bit overweight. The standard hasn’t changed in a long time ha but unfortunately there are dogs that sneak by with faults and things like I’ve heard of some coloring noses in some breeds or just random other things to win.

I've got no idea what was going on with that.

Oh yeah no I’m sure haha it was a while ago right? I honestly think that they have been making retrievers smaller LOL the standard hasn’t technically changed but I don’t see the big huge bull moose dogs as much anymore 😂 they’re all so short now. So it would have Been easy to be 90 before with a big male

ANYWAY, speaking of weight issues, my parents have always had this problem with their goldens: dog eats literally everything, dog gets overweight, dog gets less food and fewer treats, dog eats grass and poop, rinse and repeat.

One good thing is that goldens are food motivated, but I also don't want to give too many treats and stuff and I want to try to prevent that. Any ideas, aside from a REALLY solid 'leave it'?
