I've had several attacks this week, twice I was covered and had to run inside and strip. Sore, itching, burning, blisters, bites upon old bites--was told to use alcohol but it's not working anymore. Also feeling nauseous. Gramps and besties' hubby are taking care of the culprits, but I'm a wreck: any advice is appreciated.

If you're having a mild to moderate allergic reaction, try taking Benadryl, unless you're having throat closing in which case you need to call 911 or visit an ER. If your arms or legs are swelling and Benadryl doesn't help, you may need to see a doctor to ask for steroids.
Have you tried treating the coop with diatomaceous earth?

Thank you very much. As far as total bites from the beginning, probably around 30. New bites, at least 10. Argh. Was watching for signs of anafalac--arniefalac--that "shock" where your throat closes up. ;) Nothing like that, about medium on the nausea: enough to keep me off my feed for 2 days. More just the pain, itch, burn, et al. =( ::miserable Granny face:: Blisters all over my feet and forearms...I looked diseased! :(

anaphylactic - Thank you Google. 30 bites is a lot! Fire ant bites especially are prone to infection. In addition to an anti-itch cream, I would add Neosporin or something like it. If they aren't doing better in a few days, I'd call the dermatologist if you have one.

Yesterday, I did a complete, down to the dirt clean-out of the coop--first really dry day since that month of rain. The girls' pool got washed out but not refilled with ashes and D.E. yet; storms came into our area about an hour ago. Wanting to grab the weather by the neck, shake it and say, "Are you KIDDING me!"

Okay, great, I did find an old tube of Neosporin, so that there's good. When my daughter's home from work, I'll nick her Benadryl. Yay... Thank you so much!
