Fire Safety in your Chicken Coop & Barn - IMPORTANT!

Thanks very much for this advice. I admit, I have clamped that heat lamp to a board and just trusted it would stay put! I have 100 chicks coming in 10 days so I have time to make some changes before they arrive. And I'm so very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss. I know your heart must be breaking. Thank you for for the fire safety tips. Again, my heart aches for you.

This is so sad. My heart goes out to you, as it would kill me if something like this happened to my animals.

Thank you for your good advice.

Hope you are able to rebuild and continue living your dream.

All the best,

Rev. Christie Bliss Ley

We have as well. Some of those clamp lights are just so flimsy. My friend's cat knocked her clamped light over and almost set her house on fire. I think your best bet is to really secure it in there if you use a heat lamp.

Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your painful story, it is very generous of to open yourself up to criticism to help ensure others do not have to go through what you are right now.

So Sorry to hear about your barn fire. My heart goes out to you. I know how hard it is... we lost three barns to fire. We were lucky that we were able to get our pony and mini mule out. Thank you for posting fire safety tips!! Its something most people don't think about until its to late.

oh my gosh, how awful. I'm so very sorry.

I'll be building my coop and your tips will be useful. I will be very careful with heat lamps and extension cord (I will need).

I'm just so sorry for you and all of the animals :(

Not sure which thread to post this on......So, what are your plans on keeping the dust off the lights, cords and connections going forward. Most big dairy farmers never think about dusting. I have baby chicks in my house bathroom and in just 2 weeks, the chick dust is awful! It gives me food for thought.

That is so sad. I'm sorry to see your beautiful barn burned to the ground. Thanks for posting this to make people aware.
