I have a question. I read through the thread that talked about the air quality of chickens when it comes to smoke. I am a bit worried now. I live in WA and wild fires are being lit by arsonists all over the state. Our air quality is 374, San Diego today was only 128, and LA 154. We are triple in air contamination. They say if you can, and have not been evacuated to stay indoors, because it will get worse over the next few days. My chickens seem to be fairing ok so far. we coop them at night, and run them in the day. Do you think I should move them to my garage until the smoke clears. I have not heard any weazing and our hens are in good health. but this has me worried. ideas???

Are these fires set by arsonists
or
record high temperatures, record dry conditions, lightning strikes, plain old climate change, tinder dry vegetation and a family setting off fireworks?

i had a similar problem this spring when i thought to move the flock near home (now it is far from home 50 m). My neighbors, despite our requests, have a pellet stove that spreads irritant smoke (it makes we sneeze)and often we have to go home because the smoke is too annoying. So we decided to not put chickens there..☹

I live in washington state too. We do have smoke smell here. And I am worried about my chickens.
As far as we know, the fires are not set by arsonists. There were false claims of this and false information but debunked. It may be a couple are, but the bulk is our severely dry weather and winds.

From what I've read you should either move them or hang wet towels or sheets over the coop ventilation and any portions of the run where wind is blowing smoke into them. I wish everyone struggling with this a safe time until this horror show is over.

Sounds like a conspiracy theory spawned by Russian trolls on Facebook.

Who would do that? Burn their own home? Or are these arsonists from places that aren't prone to wildfire and just hate people who live in Washington?
