After saying he would not ban fire works our county judge decided to ban them. I am so glad he has ban them. After the recent east Texas fires I for one was worried about how dry it is. Have they been ban in your town?

Up until this year they have been illegal in the entire state! Stupid legislature passed a law allowing their sales. Thank goodness they included a provision allowing cities to enact ordinances banning their use (cannot ban the sale). Just about every municipality jumped on that bandwagon. They classify them into two categories: novelty and consumer. Consumer fireworks (anything that explodes or shoots into the sky) are illegal in the city. Unfortunately, sparklers are novelty fireworks and are legal. Sparklers that can heat up to something like 3000 degrees and literally throw sparks that can cause fires. Meanwhile we have two HUGE forest fires in hte state, one that is the largest ever! Idiot legislators!

They're banned here as well, but public displays are okay for some reason. Just not private consumer fireworks.

BAN!!! BAN!!!! The only fireworks for the 4th is in Onalaska over Lake Livingston. After the last couple of weeks, we durn sure don't need FIREworks!!

The "Bearing Fire" burned over 20,000 acres in Polk and Trinity counties. I have friends and family that were spared, thank God. It was called the bearing fire because an 18 wheeler's wheel bearings caught fire which caught the grass on fire, which caught the forest on fire and then it took off. That same week, weeks, fires were raging around the area. We are tired of drought, heat and fires now. Please send us a good ol' tropical storm.

I don't think so but it would be alright with me if they did. The big shows are okay because they are just one night. But this two weeks of racket really gets on my nerves.

They have been in Illinois since I can remember but I'm so close to the WI. border everyone gets em there and brings em back...they scare my dogs and critters too.

They really aren't legal in Wisconsin either, but there are numerous fireworks warehouses that sell them. Sales aren't illegal, but the only way you can legally buy them is to have a permit issued by your municipality, and that permit cannot be issued to an individual, it has to be a group (parks dept, civics groups, etc.). The vendors find ways around this. Enforcement is left up to local police departments, the state justice department has no authority in these areas.
