Fireworks time....do you do anything to help your flock

Kinda glad mine are still in the brooder in the basement since the coop isn't done, not very loud down there. The pups are going crazy am going to have to carry my Bosty mix back outside as she won't go out: they have kept me up really late every day this past week. We have had 1/2 sticks going off in the park behind my house off and on and she is terrified. It is almost dark so the fireworks will heat up shortly. Already the neighborhood smells of gun smoke and it will be nuts until at least 11 pm. Independence MO celebrates Independence Day with lots and lots of fireworks etc.

I've learned to lock them in the coop.

It's after the fact but strangely my chickens didn't seem bothered at all by the fireworks this year (they're legal here and they were setting up a show directly next door to me). During last 4th and New Year's they were definitely stressed out but they've been completely normal all day.

On the other hand my dogs have been losing their minds for the last few days and have been hiding in whatever corner they can.

Well my "intelligent" self had to spend the night in the coop for the fourth. I had time so we built an extension on the coop to accommodate the teenagers.New extension plus fireworks equals me shacking up in the extension to calm teenage chickens. At least the new extension was pristinely clean. My hubby still hasn't stopped laughing.

It's that time again.
My dogs have already started pacing back n forth.
They neighborhood is booming with the fireworks.

Do you do anything to "help" your chickens cope throw the blasts?

I cut a bunch of lavender and tossed it around inside the coops. Im also running a ryobi fan in there helps muffle sounds a bit i hope.

Mine just look up at the sky for a moment. Then they just resume their day. There's usually weird boom sounds going on in the neighborhood so they're used to it.

I get them beers, chips and a lawn chair. Ever toss a potato chip to chickens? The last thing they would care about is fireworks!
