fireworks?

i live in the city so it can get pretty noisy around the fourth of july. i almost had a horse jump the fence the 1st year i was here. but i was just wondering about the chickens. they will be in the coop by the time they start playing around. will the noise scare them to much? is there something that i should do b-4 the fireworks start. should i just leave them out even though it will be dark. the goats will be putt on chains so that they can't run through fences.

My chickens have been fine with fireworks. They go to roost pretty early so are sitting tight though it all. Since I live in unincorporated sno co, we are lined by fireworks stands and we even do bunches of high flying ones right in front of the house between the cars and chickens. One year, even had one fall over and go skittering through the coops and pop. Everyone was fine and none worse for the wear. Mine never seemed to panic like other furry ones do like the cats.

My poor babies Katie - the choclolate lab and Bella - the black lab, HATE loud noises!! They get sooo scared and we are always gone for the evening so I let them stay in the basement where I am sure I would find them hiding under the bed in my son's bedroom if we ever came home early!

Chickens have always been fine with loud noises though.

Once the chickens are on the roost, they won't move. I have shot coon &
fox while right next to the coop. They never moved. They will be alright, a dog or cat is a different story.

My chickens do fine on the 4th, My dog I have in the house with radio very loud, she does fine then. I never noticed what the cat does. lol

Mine are fine with fireworks, but car horns scare the whoopie out of them.

My farm usually does fine with noises. I will be interested in how the alpacas react this year. We dont have any towns close enough to really hear fireworks but we have neighbor that is a liscensed pyrotec. He makes all different kinds of wonderful fireworks. When he gets several made he will light them to see how they look. This is done any time of the year. He has even lite them off in the middle of winter. One night my step son was sitting on a mare my hubby had just broke and suddenly "BOOM". Luckily the mare had been here since she was a little filly and was totally used to the sounds. She didnt even flinch. That is the only problem with him doing that is you never know when he might light a couple so when the windows rattle some nights we know he is testing fireworks. It is kinda cool too. Jenn

We live close to a ballfield where they have fireworks just about every weekend, and so far the chickens don't seem to notice.
I only wish I could say as much for the dog, who barks like her life is in danger, which in turn makes the parrots start giving this ungodly loud, high-pitched squeal.
Hmm, maybe I'll go sit outside with the chickens during fireworks.
