Four of my pullets became hens today and I’m so proud. But I am a little concerned. They laid them on the coop floor not the nesting boxes. Also, there is blood on the coop floor beside where I got the eggs. Is that normal. They aren’t even 5 months yet. To compare size, the blood amount would equate to the size of my 5 month old roosters healthy poo. Please advise. I’m worried about the blood but very excited about our first eggs.

Can you get some photos of what you saw?

Was it blood in poop or a blood smear on the egg(s)?

When I saw the blood I started checking for injury and none. But I opened the coop and saw blood spots beside where the eggs were laying.

It wasn’t on eggs but I don’t think it’s poop because there is a spot of blood and no poop just beside of eggs. See pics below. Is this normal
Did you look at their vents?
That look like blood on poop.
How long have you had the pullets?

I would watch their behavior, see if any of them act lethargic, puffed up, not wanting to eat/drink.
Look at overnight droppings to see if there's more blood in the poop.
To me it's not normal.

It would be common to see a slight smear of blood on an egg with new layers, but frank blood like that is not normal.

I am outside and the sun is making it impossible to see the screen on my phone- therefore the picture sent is hard to see- but what I see is a pool of blood which is not right, or normal. @Wyorp Rock is right, look at your pullets vent area (if you have questions on what the vent area is let us know) to see if there is blood- if you do see blood on one or more pullets, separate them out (if there are more than one bloody chickens, keep them apart, chickens are prone to pecking blood spots which only make things worse) watch them and see how they act, are they eating or drinking? are they laying? Are they moving around or acting lethargic? Are they pooping normally?
Update us if something out of the ordinary happens again.

I got a little insight but this is the right forum. I got my first 4 eggs today and they are so sweet. There was blood beside the eggs and I’m concerned. is this normal? They suspected layers are all between 4- 5 months. They are sweet birds.
