My first egg came today without fanfair. 20 weeks and 2 days. Only one seemed ready and after I showed her the nesting box, she proceded to give me a nice sized brown egg. She's a RIR. Hopefully there will be more soon. [IMG]

[IMG] Yes the first is always the most expensive. After that they are all free! Or at least that is what I tell myself. [IMG]

You got off cheap! I think my first egg will cost close to $2000! [IMG] That number is totally due to chicken math!

Quote:I swear it's not my fault. Started with four chicks, for $24, one chicken tractor at about $400 and then I wanted more! It's all the chickens fault!! They are just too cute to have only four, right??!! [IMG]

I don't know if the eggs get any cheaper!!
Spent $40 yesterday on feed and wood shavings.
Out of the six girls at the moment only one is laying [IMG]
But yeah I will continue to kid myself that I am saving money [IMG]

Quote:Yeah, seriously. When I read $400, I thought the OP was spreading the cost among a clutch of eggs.

Congrats on your first egg. Many more to follow!
