First Ameraucana Egg This Morning!! Woohoo!

Try some golf balls. I put them in there yesterday and this morning she laid. She has been squatting for a couple days though. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I love the color and can't wait for my other Ameraucana to lay too. She's an ugly little one but, I know her eggs will be the best.

Good luck!

We do have golf balls in our four nest boxes. I definitely think it helped with our other one. I think the weather is our biggest factor now. Our high temperatures are still in the 90s this week, but our low temps. are getting into the high 60s. I think it is just a matter of time.

Mine are about 21 weeks so you will see them pretty soon. Are they squatting? I saw your Golden Comet I believe on another post. Beautiful birds! Our co-op had a limited selection of breeds for this area but, I would love to get some.

Oh your so lucky to have one laying already! My girls are going on 23 weeks and not a thing yet. Combs are red, 2 are squatting, but no egg yet.

Fingers crossed for cooler weather your way. Its definitely been mild in S. Oregon this year. We haven't seen a day over 100 so I think its helping them a lot which is a blessing since I am a newbie!

In late July and early August we had 12 days over 100º including several that were in the 110ºs. We actually lost one of our Cuckoo Marans during this time, and we suspect it was heat related.

I have been reading that a lot of people are losing flocks due to the heat. I am sorry to hear of your loss. I would just die if something happened to my chick-a-dees! I put frozen water bottles or milk jugs in the run so they can lay next to them and cool off. I was worried that it was getting too hot but, it never got to 110! Yikes! Hope it cools down soon for you and you see some progress soon!
