First Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon- Join us! Set Day: Easter

I do have to say that DH is intently looking into the bator right now looking for pips.

He claims not to care about my addiction.

oh course he doesn't care about YOUR addiction.... this hatch is HIS addiction... there's a big difference there!

Great idea but I'm kid-less and I also lack the normal female decorating genes. I don't have beads, curtains, rugs or wall decorations. Maybe nuts and bolts.

Are we related?

OK I snarfed down the entire pizza (and I'm still hungry but going to try to hold off for now), here's my motley crew:

I think you get the idea!! Wash the nuts first in hot soapy water, they are often oiled or have manufacturing residue. I'm trying to come up with alternatives and everything is boy related!! Legos, Army men.

You get the idea.
actually.. some nuts and bolts are toxic to birds (any that contain zinc).. stainless steel ones are fine though..
I'm not sure if they actually have to chew on them or if the zinc would leach out into the water

Fine I'll hold off on the nuts/bolts.

I wish I could locate my small plastic organic chemistry model set (unfortunately I can only find the big one). I could have made a couple CH4 molecules (and maybe a few EtOH ones too... hahahhaaaa

) to put in the water.

I'll go outside in a bit to the driveway and brave chicken poop mines to get a few rocks.

SCG I think rocks will work just fine. I didn't expect you to have marbles but kind of surprised you don't have any dragon tears (those kind of flatish glass "marbles" used for floral arrangements) but if you don't even have curtains, I guess dragon tears are out as well.

I have no idea what the light chipmunky one is going to look like. Does it have feathered shanks? If so, I know who daddy is and you could wind up with one that kind of looked like that blonde one that I sent you pics of. Could be a splash too but I don't know. I've never been lucky to get one out of my girls.
yinepu DH would never admit that this hatch is his addiction. I think he likes the turkey poults over the chicks but, as I said would never admit to it.

Homework is finally finished so I am allowing myself adult beverage #2

The thought of organic chem model sets yanks me right back to university!! That's the idea though, or large pebbles!

This was the most difficult chick I've ever tried to photograph. It never stood still and never shut up for a second. But I love it anyway

Sorry the photos are a bit fuzzy.

And only ten toes, I counted.

Quote: Yup, northern Illinois! Okay, seasonal layers so winter quarter wouldn't necessarily have to have nests but would have to have them ready by end of March....got it!

Number three Bourbon Red is out!!

I am starting to worry about the fan blowing on the eggs. I never thought about it before but I can see the movement of the air from the fan moving a piece of dried paper towel.....do I need to re-wet the paper towel and cover the eggs? Some of the pips have not progressed couldn't they be stuck or am I "going Mahonri" for no reason?!
