First Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon- Join us! Set Day: Easter

Of all the days to be stuck at work. I don't think anyone could ever call me a lazy federal government worker, but I worked 12.5 hours straight today, no lunch. I'm dead.

SCG still just the two pips? I don't know who I am more excited for, you or me. I can't wait to see what my Royal Purple Palms

are going to look like and I am so hoping that you wind up with three baby Lurkey/Toms

ETA - Also hoping that at least one of your tutors is a lavender!

BF didn't have to work until 3 so he was sending me pictures. I had two tutors out earlier and a fully zipped turkey (the pipped one from this AM). Got home about 20 minutes ago and the turkey was still just zipped, so I intervened. Glad I did, it was very dried and stuck. It's out now and lurching around a bit like a frankenstein monster, but it's alive. It tried to drown itself in the first 20 seconds of being in the brooder, so I'll try to keep an eye on it. No other pips. I did get the humidity up a bit more with a damp towel so hopefully that'll help.

You know, I forget that y'all are so far away. I have had tomatoes in the ground for three weeks and have blooms and pea sized tomatoes, already. I wonder if the fruit from your areas tastes differently from mine. We all know the difference between store-bought (pink mealy mush) and homegrown (firm, tomatoey deliciousness) but is there a difference in geographical location? I would like to try some of yours and to share some of mine. Anyone willing to consider a "Tomato Swap?" Hey, we already know how to pack them to ship!

ETA
I planted some in August last year. The plants did well and I had a bunch of late fruit. The tomatoes never got too big (in the South, we pride ourselves on big tomatoes, one slice should cover the bread for a tomato sandwich) but that didn't bother me. What I found interesting, was that they didn't taste as good. They were closer to store bought than homegrown and I wondered if the cooler temps were the reason. We have hot weather into October, (sometimes November!) but it cools off at night starting in September. Hummmmmmm........

I would be down for that. I think we have tasty tomatoes here, but anything is better than store bought. Also anything is better than the nasty stuff that we have shipped to us most of the winter. I'm trying to grow heritage mortgage lifters this year (the real big ones) but I was smart and planted some short season ones, too.

Yes! The box wasn't damaged at all. The PO only does that with fragile contents you know

When you said you were going to pretty it up, I though you meant you'd dust off the cobwebs! You have a lovely sense of design. Thanks so much!

That looks great!

SHOWGIRL!!!

Deb

Congrats! They are absolutely adorable!

Yeah I like to leave them in the bator until they get their sea legs. The one that I had stuck flopped around for a while but it is now generally staying right side up. You might want to consider taking the water out of the brooder for now. They won't need it for a little while anyway. What colors are your tutors that have hatched?
Ahhhhhh enjoying an adult beverage now. Tastes good, haven't had one in a few months. Been watching the calorie intake so adult beverages have been off the list. Time to indulge just a little.

I do have to say that DH is intently looking into the bator right now looking for pips.

I have to keep the water in there on account of the silkie I hatched Saturday. The silkie appears very happy to have friends other than a fake, stuffed Baltimore Oriole 20 times its size.

Once I finish eating the entire Freschetta, I'll take you some pictures. One chick is chipmunk, the other is black. Both are wicked cute and perky.

Eat your dinner please. You have earned it. I am still giggling on the inside from watching DH check out the bator using a flashlight to find new pips.

If I get a blue girl and boy, I will send you some of those eggs next year. They are stinkin cute!

SCG, perhap fill the water with marbles. I have boys, so I have marbles. THere's also those floral glass beads that look like flattened marbles. I find it prevents wet poults and chicks. ANd drown ones too. Happens very easily.

Great idea but I'm kid-less and I also lack the normal female decorating genes. I don't have beads, curtains, rugs or wall decorations. Maybe nuts and bolts.
