I will need to reread the LG manual. I read it and tossed it. It's on line as needed. I think the vents on the LG are for humidity control. One of the reasons I tossed the manual probably.

ETA - Also hoping that at least one of your tutors is a lavender!
You know, I forget that y'all are so far away. I have had tomatoes in the ground for three weeks and have blooms and pea sized tomatoes, already. I wonder if the fruit from your areas tastes differently from mine. We all know the difference between store-bought (pink mealy mush) and homegrown (firm, tomatoey deliciousness) but is there a difference in geographical location? I would like to try some of yours and to share some of mine. Anyone willing to consider a "Tomato Swap?" Hey, we already know how to pack them to ship!

I planted some in August last year. The plants did well and I had a bunch of late fruit. The tomatoes never got too big (in the South, we pride ourselves on big tomatoes, one slice should cover the bread for a tomato sandwich) but that didn't bother me. What I found interesting, was that they didn't taste as good. They were closer to store bought than homegrown and I wondered if the cooler temps were the reason. We have hot weather into October, (sometimes November!) but it cools off at night starting in September. Hummmmmmm........

Yeah I like to leave them in the bator until they get their sea legs. The one that I had stuck flopped around for a while but it is now generally staying right side up. You might want to consider taking the water out of the brooder for now. They won't need it for a little while anyway. What colors are your tutors that have hatched?BF didn't have to work until 3 so he was sending me pictures. I had two tutors out earlier and a fully zipped turkey (the pipped one from this AM). Got home about 20 minutes ago and the turkey was still just zipped, so I intervened. Glad I did, it was very dried and stuck. It's out now and lurching around a bit like a frankenstein monster, but it's alive. It tried to drown itself in the first 20 seconds of being in the brooder, so I'll try to keep an eye on it. No other pips. I did get the humidity up a bit more with a damp towel so hopefully that'll help.

Ahhhhhh enjoying an adult beverage now. Tastes good, haven't had one in a few months. Been watching the calorie intake so adult beverages have been off the list. Time to indulge just a little.![]()
SCG, perhap fill the water with marbles. I have boys, so I have marbles. THere's also those floral glass beads that look like flattened marbles. I find it prevents wet poults and chicks. ANd drown ones too. Happens very easily.
Quote: I think you get the idea!! Wash the nuts first in hot soapy water, they are often oiled or have manufacturing residue. I'm trying to come up with alternatives and everything is boy related!! Legos, Army men.You get the idea.![]()
