No free pallets to be had on Craig's list? Near me the big grocery stores heap their pallets out back and nobody cares if you take a few.
Other places I have found for free or low cost stuff are if there is a housing demolition or even remodelling going on there is often scrap to be had for the taking. And I use the Habitat for Humanity 'Restore' stores. They are not free but not high cost. I actually bough 4 school chairs there for my babies to use as hideouts from the big chickens during integration. Once they were no longer needed I cleaned them up and donated them right back to Habitat for Humanity so it was a win all around and it cost almost nothing.

We live in the boonies. Nearest decent sized city over 30 miles away.
