Pullets seem to be surprised when their first egg happens (come to think of it, I wouldn't know what to do either). The first couple of eggs seem to happen wherever the bird is. They'll figure out what the feeling means pretty quickly though, and go to the boxes.
The only thing I'd advise you to look out for is if it keeps getting laid outside consistantly. That means one of your girls is either being bullied away from the nests, or something in the nest is freaking them out (ie snake sleeping there).
