First Egg Countdown

I want to join the waiting game! I have 5 pullets that are 16 weeks old. BO, RIR, 2 EE, and a Barred Rock. I have others but they are younger! Here are some pictures of them.

BR ..notice very little comb and wattles.

RIR... still a long way to go! Boo! The EE on the left is just starting to get some red in the face...not much yet though.

Shoot, her face is blurred! But, she is my closest to laying, I think. Her face has been turning red for a week or two.
I won't bother to post my BO right now...she is just as yellow and no wattled as she was weeks ago!!! Can't wait for those eggs!
Just realized the BO is in the first photo.

It's Great to have you!

Please post weekly pictures so we can see how they change up to laying the first egg.

We love pictures...

Ron
I would love to post pictures.

I like taking pics of my hens. I will post some tomorrow morning.

I have six Buff Orpingtons that started laying between 18-22 weeks. I have 21 other pullets that will be 18 weeks old tomorrow. None of them are laying yet. Some of them look really close to it, but so far nada. I had to buy eggs today because I ran out.

I keep expecting to see Walenda (below) in the nest, but she has no interest at all.

Lucy is my best buddy. She follows me around and wants to be held. She will squat the minute I look at her, but no eggs yet and no interest in the nest boxes.

The Buff on the right has been laying for 2 months now, the one on the left has a bigger comb/wattles but no eggs.

Mine are spaced in age: two born March 13, two more on the 20th, and two more on the 27th (long story, won't bore you with the details). After I had all the chicks, I found a BLRW Splash Bantam who was approximately 4-6 weeks older than the oldest two. That means she hatched around Feb 1, or so, and should be abour 18 - 20 weeks old at this point. However, Her comb isn't developed yet and I noticed today that the March 20th girls (Australorp and Orp) are starting to get combs that are red and puffed up. They're starting to get wattles, too, and the Black Australorp (Aretha) was clucking up a storm today, so they may be the first to lay.

Can my girls play, too?

Olivia and Blanche when the coop was completed in mid-May. I'll have to get some updated photos and include Aretha.
