First Egg Countdown

It happened again this morning. It is definitely her egg. I checked first thing to make sure no other eggs were in there. I sat in a chair in the run this morning and she was the only one in that nest since sunrise. Dom mother came from mcmurray. GLW dad also came from a hatchery. I love a good mystery! It will be interesting to see what color egg her sister lays.

Ahaha! That's awesome Off-Grid! You should explain to her that she's confused, and threaten to call her an EE if she doesn't straighten out and start laying brown. That should scare the green outta her.

And you know, I have no idea what kind of weird magic broodies use to transport eggs. Seriously, when I was using little silkie and cochin bantams to incubate turkey eggs, they would take them from nest-box to nest-box; stealing from each other. I have NO idea how, the eggs were half their weight and the boxes weren't connected. It weirded me out on a daily basis.

Yolanda laid her first egg today. She was 26 weeks old on Wednesday.

One of my hens a couple of days ago started crowing. I believed he was a she until now. He is 6 to 7 months old. Also today one of my real hens laid a 69.4 gram egg. It is huge compared to the 50 gram average ones that I am used to. I now have six out of eight laying. I am averaging 3 a day for now. This spring, the egg machine should get turned on and eggs should start flowing pretty good. I sure like going out to the coop and just watching them. My BO is growing up nicely, I am still not sure he is a roo. He is really tame and has become a favorite for my daughters to carry around on their shoulders and back. It is quite cute to watch. I would consider my flock to be therapy birds of sort. Relaxing, isnt it.

Nikki99- yes he does! I am always reminded of him when I see that photo. He died in may. We got two Roos that are great, so I only miss his personality.

I never in a million years thought I'd say something like this, but....I love your eggs!! Lol. The speckled ones remind me of the fancy jelly beans and I love the greenish blueish ones.

Those are great Im jealous lol very pretty colors. I feel like I never have eggs. Only 1-2 a day out of 12 laying chickens
