First Egg Countdown

My first egg arrived today! The girls are 23 weeks old. I posted 2 weeks ago with photos so I could get your views lon who might lay first. I have one each of Australorp, RIR, Silver Campine and Barnevelder.

Do you think this was laid by the Australopr, not the RIR? It weighs 38g. It is the most beautiful egg in the world!!!!! And laid in the nesting box right next to the dummy egg. What a smart girl!

Here it is next to a store bought egg - sold as large organic, so obviosuly I don't know what laid it.

So, which of my ladies do you think laid it? I am so happy!!!!

It is hard to say who laid the egg until you see her leave the nest box and sing about it. I never like to put a name to an egg until I see her lay it.

Thanks guys I have been waiting for that colorful egg basket and was blown away at the speckled egg. I took pics and started sending them to people like it was a new baby lol. Noone in my family has chickens so this to them must have seemed silly. You just dont get it until you are waiting for those eggs. I still have a welsummer that hasnt laid for me yet and a EE I am still waiting on. I need to set them up in my egg basket for a photo shoot.

Congrats!! That's exciting!!

My first eggs in over 4 months have arrived. My 8.5 month old EE finally laid two for me! I've hardly been checking the nest boxes, I'd given up on eggs for a while. But today - there were two in there!
Next to some white store-bought eggs...

Congrats everyone on their first eggs!!!
