First Egg Countdown

Ok guys, I am very confused about something. I have a "Domindotte" mutt that was hatched in June that has been hanging out in the covered cat box nest in the coop. I already have a barnevelder who started laying in there. Two days ago, I saw the new girl in the box. A little while after, I went back out t the coop to find a very tiny green egg. I thought, "ok that's strange- it probably wasn't this girl, because sheis supposed to lay brown eggs. Her mom is a Dominique and her dad is gold laced Wyandotte. It must be that one of my EE's started laying again." ( I have 3 EE hens, only one is laying right now. Even though they hatched in April, 2 stopped laying 3 weeks ago. Not sure why, but that's another post...).
Yesterday I saw the barnie in the catbox nest and a while later pulled out the little brown egg on the left in the photo. Today, I went out to watch the girls for a bit. I saw the Domindotte in the nest box. I also saw my EE that is laying in a different box. Went out an hour later, and pulled a tiny olive green/taupe egg from the cat nest box. (Center of the photo). The egg on the right was collected today from the box that my dependable EE laid.

Am I seeing things? This egg IS green, right? It's not a funny colored brown egg? I know it is probably coincidence and that a different EE has come out of retirement, but... I went out very soon after I saw her in the box, because I was excited that she was "playing house". And that egg is tiny. I have never seen any other hens besides the barnie and Domindotte in that catbox. Or ... Is it possible that the sire was an EE and not a GLW?
Here is the Domindotte. She is a rose combed black sex link due to the red gene from dad and barring gene from mom.

Here is a photo of the dad. He is since deceased and I know with complete certainty that we had no other roosters at the time. Here he is.

A photo of when he was younger, his chest feathers are shown. I was told he was a GLW.

So what do you all think is happening? These chickens are making me cuckoo.

Lol they really are playing pranks on you huh? Assuming her parents were pure, there's no possibility she can lay green eggs.

Now what IS possible is that she's feeling broody, and is stealing eggs to sit on. Not that I hope that's happening here, but broodies are notorious thieves.

She's adorable btw!!!

I have two EEs that started laying over the summer. One is still laying, although she's slowed down to 2 days of laying and then skips a day. My other hen just quit laying all together about 2 weeks ago. I know the lack of daylight slows them down, but is it normal for a hen to stop laying completely? When do they usually start up agian? Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Nikki99- yes he does! I am always reminded of him when I see that photo. He died in may. We got two Roos that are great, so I only miss his personality.

Cleopatra- out of all my April chicks, I have 1/3 EEs laying, 2 red stars, and thebarnevelder laying. But the barnie just started laying, and the red stars are laying machines. I have 4 from that batch that totally stopped, and one EE is going through a mini molt. I wasn't expecting that from the first year pullets, but I guess it is fairly common.

Off-grid..........are you sure of her parentage? She looks to have a pea comb to me, which would mean one of her parents is probably an EE and would explain the green eggs.

At the time I obtained the GLW roo, (the only roo we had) I had only 3 other breeds of females. Rose comb brown leghorns, dominiques, and partridge rocks. The day the roo died, my husband got sentimental and begged to hatch out "Rocky's babies". I borrowed an incubator from the 4H program. The april chicks were still in the brooder. I gathered eggs for 3 days, I set 7 eggs- definite two from each breed of mother and 1 I wasn't sure if it was PR or Dom. 1 was a dud. The remaining 6 eggs hatched. I ended up with 2 from each mother. Hoping for a pullet of each cross, I got 2 sex linked all black females from Dom mothers. ( I got lucky!) Of the leghorn moms, both were roosters. Of the PR moms, I got 1 of each. If you want to see photos of the chicks, you can look under threads I've started and check it out. I would post link but I'm posting with my phone.

Sorry for the long explanation, but yes I am sure of the parentage because she is a black sex link. I live a mile from my nearest neighbor and nobody within 3 miles if me has chickens.

It must be one of the other EEs sneaking into the box in the 20 min after she is in there. Maybe she is still "playing house"? That's why I asked about the GLW roo- could be be part EE? He looks solid GLW to me, but the genetics and egg color say otherwise. The EE's have all ignored the cat box but maybe they saw the barnie in there and thought it was prime real estate. LOL but its literally only been an hour from the time I see the Dom cross enter and the time I see an egg. I'm on watch now, ha! I'll let you know if it happens again. If it does, then the GLW had blue egg gene somewhere. Moms/Doms eggs have all been light brown, medium and glossy.

It happened again this morning. It is definitely her egg. I checked first thing to make sure no other eggs were in there. I sat in a chair in the run this morning and she was the only one in that nest since sunrise. Dom mother came from mcmurray. GLW dad also came from a hatchery. I love a good mystery! It will be interesting to see what color egg her sister lays.
