Awright! Booberry is officially old enough to be added to the thread! Her little wattles are starting to redden up, but her comb is still small and pale, so it'll be a couple of months still.
I'll have to put up a picture of her tonight. She's so pretty!
.....I got 6 today!!!! I've been grinding my own feed with extra oyster shell blended in its been great!!! I hate soft eggs
....remember my leghorn laid a soft one everyday for 2 weeks almost shes been on a 3 week roll now and I had a couple soft ones from an unknown redstar a coupe of times then they all laid normal eggs that same day?? I bought blue seal extra egg pellets and blended 2 cups with 3 tblspns each of oyster shell down to a crumble mash all together and do 25 lbs at a time....takes me about 15 min a week, so far they've eaten it like theres no tommorrow!
All your girls look so pretty all the different colors, If i could find started EE around here Id get em, I miss the green eggs
I'm not so worried about the soft eggs. If they had been laying for months and I started getting them I would worry. The two girls that have been laying for a few weeks haven't had one in a while.
I only have the two EE and one hasn't layed yet. I cant wait to find out what color she is going to lay. Every one else lays brown or light brown. My Buff Orpingtons will be the next group to start laying ( in 8 or so weeks)and they will be brown also. Then I have 10 chicks of Olive eggers and Black Copper Marans that will start in 13 or so weeks. I am so done having chicks in my house. I will also have eggs coming out of my wazoo. O' what fun that'll be.
Lol!! Im done with chicks too ...that was me 2 years ago....10 week olds outside 4 week old in the brooder 2 week olds in a box....It killed it for me....i was like NO MORE BABY CHICKS, this year I got all 17wk old Started pullets, now that I got my connections in CT its easier, but when you want special breeds theyre harder to find older! Your gonna have SOOO many eggs lolI it would be lethal if we lived on the same block!! lol
