In your avatar, your hens are in a run with Grass! How do you manage that!?!?!I have 2 BR, one that talks all day, so her name is Gabby, her sister that is much quieter is Tabby.

OK, I am growing out blue egg layers....I have some Crested Cream Legbar X white leghorn crosses and some Lavender Ameraucana X white leghorn crosses. My roosters are a Non Naked Neck (not sure what else to call him) green/blue egg layer and a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. He was hatched from a light pinkish egg. I have heard turquoise comes from green/blue egg layer X pinkish eggs. Is that true? Or do I need the straight blue with the pinkish? You need to get a blue laying breed.
Still nothing from my two 21 week old barred rocks. One has red wattles and red comb but the other is still looking pink and no wattles. Sigh. My 13 week Ameraucana has a very red comb - is that typical of the breed at this young age? Her 'sisters' of other breeds, same age, aren't nearly and red yet.
My girls are red sex links and 17 weeks old now... How long do their combs and wattles stay red for before they start laying? And do they get any redder than this?
I've got a nesting box which a couple have poked around in and one sat in for about half a minute. Not sure if they're squatting for me or just being silly.... I feel like I'm expecting the birth of my first child waiting on these girls to start laying!!![]()
Just got my first egg!!

I can't get over how amazing it is, even if its just an egg! The picture doesn't do it justice, it's much more brown. I'm positive one of my three red stars laid it.
