First Egg Countdown

Just got my first egg!!

I can't get over how amazing it is, even if its just an egg! The picture doesn't do it justice, it's much more brown. I'm positive one of my three red stars laid it.

It is a beautiful egg, congrats!

After that first egg battle we realized we were going to need more hens.

I am thinking of getting more, but have to wait til we have a bigger coop, but I am not sure how Intergrating others with my sexlinks would go.

I have 3 hens and my WLH has been squatting and sitting in her box! This is their 16 week mark.What does the egg song sound like?

Over and over for about 2 minutes, either just before they lay or just after. Very distinct, at least for ours. It's the most noise we ever hear from our hens. Usually they are pretty quiet.

We got 2 more eggs today, that makes a dozen in 6 days, from 2 laying girls. I wonder how it'll be when the other 4 come on line!!!

Got my first egg ever Wednesday from my bantam EE, (I posted a pic of it on this thread) and have gotten 2 more since. One from the same EE and one from my BA girl, Matilda, Friday. Matilda is sitting in the nest box right now! We may have enough eggs for an omelet soon lol so they are laying about every other day so far. I think that as soon as our heat wave passes more girls will begin laying. They don't like 90+ degrees and 70% humidity!

I think it's a touch lighter irl. It really does look like a robin's egg though!

She laid a 2nd egg today! This one weighed 1.6 ounces. She actually laid it in the nest box this time too. Yesterday she just laud it on the ground and I put it in the nest box for pictures.
