First Egg Countdown

Yes very vocal especially when myself or husband go outside and she sees us

This is shadow....she is about 22 weeks....she has been like this for two weeks and very vocal for about one week...more so in the last two days....she looks more mature than my speckled sussex who started laying this past week....any ideas if she is close? it is getting very frustrating

i have eight hens that should start laying within weeks of each other and four that probably wont lay until mid winter but as each one gets closer it gets more frustrating

Another week down. Still no eggs. No squatting. But red combs. One day it'll happen but the waiting is killing me.

Got my egg!!! We were leaving for 4 days yesterday and I was just sure she would lay when I was gone (like the first of my flock did) I saw sunshine go in and out of the nest box and she was scratching around like the other two so I was sure she was going to lay. But would she lay before I left? I was anxiously waiting all morning, and chestnut several times gave her an encouraging egg song. (I was looking for chestnuts egg before I realized she must be helping). I picked up my daughter from school at noon (no egg when I left) and when I got back, there was a beautiful green egg! I guess she wanted to have Sydney find it. We left almost immediately so I can't show the photo but I'll post when I return. What a great send off!

Congrats! My BSL was in the nesting box when I left. I'll have to wait to see it.

Had a dream last night that my Beep2 laid an egg! Followed by another egg a minute later and another a second after that. Then after some running and shreiking, a final HUGE like dinosaur size egg! -- was a weird dream and when I woke up this morning... No egg. Ostrige size or otherwise. Sad face.

My 3 month old buttercup ladies are more interested in the oyster shell than my 25 week EEs. Weird. Hoping my dream was a precursor to some eggs in my near future.

Happy Chooks, my chicken went in the nesting box and just sat there awhile then she got all hot and puffy like my other chickens do when they lay a egg but she didn't.

another one of my girls is laying, that makes 3 of the 4 original girls and the 4th looks like she is still awhile out. Added 3 more girls to the flock today that are 3 months old, so we will play the waiting game with them now!

She's probably practicing. My BSL was pacing and being very vocal, so I know she was going to lay Friday. But we left for the weekend, so I have to wait to see it.
