First Egg Countdown

Congrats on the Australorp. Yes, Polish lay white eggs.

Here is an egg color chart if you want to see egg color by breed:

Thanks! It's nice to find all that info in one spot lol
What a pretty little flock!
Thanks! Those are my newest girls(they are also the oldest...my chicken math has been adding up and I am up to 13 now.

Many of them are quite a ways away from beginning to lay though)

Anyone have any ideas about my white pullet? I have no idea what she is.

Yes, I believe so.

But, speaking of the Devil-- got my first egg today!

Just shy of 23 weeks, one of my EE's laid it. It's a pretty light blue-green. Still waiting for the Olive Egger- that will be another exciting day. But here is a pic of this egg, which is mildly stained with poop xD
it's hard to tell the color, but it is a light blue-green, laid by Ember, I believe, the girl in the last picture.

Yay! Got our first egg! I just checked the coop again and there it was! Not sure if it was Jenny or Mary Nell, they are both squatting now. Yesterday Mary Nell was in the coop just talking away. Today when I checked Jenny was under the coop and the rest of them were in the run so maybe it was Jenny. I bet the rest will be chipping in on the rent soon.
Congrats! It's probably the talkative one.

Hooray -- I got my first egg the day before Thanksgiving. Our Son, daughter in law, and kids are visiting and we woke from a nap - there it was in the chicken run. Granddaughters were so excited. They are 5 and 2 1/2 . This was the first time they have seen grammy's chickens. Not sure which hen to thank. We haven't figured it out yet...... She then told off Thanksgiving day - no egg. But yesterday morning there was a nice egg in one of the nest boxes and then again today mid morning. It was so much fun to share our first eggs with out granddaughters. We scrambled them up each day and each had a bite.
Looking for help on identifying who might be the hen laying. The buff has been acting strange lately --- isolating herself from the others at times and pulls herself all in like she's cold. ( lack of a better way to describe it). That's Chloe, she's my oldes - at 30 wks. Then there's my Wynadotte - Winnie - she looks the most developed and has been squatting like you talk about on here. Lizzie my New Hampshire has always squatted from day one. Or is it Jersey Girl my Delaware. They other 5 are 27 wks old. Help in solving the mystery if you can please.
Congrats! My bet is on the Wyandotte or Delaware based on the egg color and how red they are.

Odd question, but, can a hen stop laying if she's stressed?
Yes, any stress can cause them to stop laying for a time. What happened in your flock?

Yes, I believe so.

Congrats! I have an EE that looks like your pullet. Mine is too young for laying though.

Congrats to everyone getting their first day this time of the year. With the short nights and no artificial light I wasn't expecting too much out of my girls. What a nice surprise this was. And to have it arrive on the day before Thanksgiving while our kids was visiting was an added bonus. I bet everyone is like me anticipating when will the next egg will arrive and who will be next. I am so grateful to have this form to share my news with. You all get it.

First egg from my 21 week old BR! I now have 2 out of 4 laying. Very light in color with the brown funny "paint" job

Our roo has become very overeager with his hens and ripped the back of the neck of one clean off. She hasn't laid an egg since while her fellow sister-pullets have been churning them out on the regular and now the rest of the flock is a bit down since we culled our other roo and they realized that he is gone.

Congratulations to everyone else on the eggs! Though, now I'm convinced that I need to get my hands on an EE, I want more colorful eggs! Here I am, staring at my different shades of brown. Might as well roll me up in fruit preservatives because I am jelly.
