First Egg Countdown

I've got 4 BR and one welsummer who are all 5 months old almost exactly, and two of my BR are squatting!! I was so excited when they did it now it's just a wating game but I have been checkng all their favorite spots in case thy don't go in the nesting box. Heres a few pics of my girls

I'm still waiting...my sex link's tail feathers are coming back in nicely - they molted out - but it is very hot here and I'm worried that will delay her.

My wellie pullet laid her first egg yesterday.

It's a beautiful first egg, nice and dark with tiny speckles. (darker than her mothers first egg) I'll get a picture of it today and post it.

Congratulations on the eggs! I'm so envious. I'm sure my chickens think I'm crazy since I check the nest boxes probably a dozen times each day! Soon, I hope.

I will jump in too. My two "babies" are 17 weeks old. The EE has had a very red comb for about 2 -3 weeks now ( suspected roo, but others have told me she is a pullet now) and my BO has a red face, but her comb is still pink and not red yet. Come on girls!! Pics are from 2 weeks ago.

Here's the egg from the wellie girl in my post above. It's darker than in this photo, and since it's her first egg, it may darken even more as her body gets used to applying the paint.
