First Egg Countdown

Well, I went out to check my girls this afternoon, and look what I found in one of the nests!

The smaller one is the one I found. The larger one is from my refrigerator....just to compare the size. Not bad for a first egg ever?? I have two squatting and I'm not sure which one laid this one. I'm so excited ! I can hardly wait to check the nests tomorrow! The down-side is that I have a dozen and a half store-bought eggs in the refrigerator.....

Congrats! Nice size egg for sure. I'm in the same boat you are, got my first egg today and I just bought a dozen yesterday!

The Kippenjungle calculator (unless I could not find it), does not have an option for breed. For colors what would I pick for a Cream Legbar Rooster? Will I have to manually change the genes?
I *think the Male Cream Legbar's color would be "Cream Light Brown duckwing, barred" but someone can correct me if that is not right.

I put in a test cross of him and a white patterned red hen and the offspring can range from red to silver/cream with red barring (very pretty) with three tail types, white/silver, diluted black (blue) barred, or solid black/ and or barred. (Somewhat similar appearance to the Rhodebar breed)

Let me see if I can link this correctly: offspring, rooster:

offspring, hen:

1/8 offspring cream, barring:

I'm guessing this is a new layer egg

Congrats!

So this thread must be good luck! 2 hours after posting "waiting on my first egg" it happened!! I went out to sit with them all and I just happened to look over at their coop and saw this little beauty just sitting there on the ground!! First egg ever!!
Laid by this lil beauty!
Congrats! The very first egg ever is special!

Congrats! You'll never want to eat store bought eggs again.
