So do they squat when you go near or when you reach out for them? Mine are just squealing and running off when I go in there.
I got some decoy eggs to- and stupidly got excited when I went in and found multicoloured eggs in the best lol.

Yay for a first egg!I got an egg!!!!!!!e This morning I went out, lowered the ramp, and down rolled a little brown egg. I couldn't eat it though, because it had a crack on it
I was so ecstatic, I ran into my house (at 6:30 AM) yelling, "I GOT AN EGG! I GOT AN EGG!". When I came home from school there was a smashed yolk and egg white sitting in the nest box. No signs of shells. Hopefully that's not going to be an issue- I gave them some oyster shells for more calcium. I wonder which one it was… either my RIR or my Buff Brahma. My BB is about 26-27 weeks old. Took her long enough. Which breed do you think lay this?

Is this fertilized?
This is what I found in my nest box. You can't really see it, but the white was in there too. Would I have found bits of shell if they had eaten it?
Congrats! That egg would be from the RIR. Brahma's lay a more pale, pinkish tan colored egg. It looks to be fertile, from what I can see in the picture. Nice yolk color too. The egg goop in the nest box could have been a soft shelled egg. But no, you wouldn't necessarily see egg shell if they had eaten it. Chickens will naturally clean up (eat) an egg that gets broken - it doesn't mean you have egg eaters.I got an egg!!!!!!!This morning I went out, lowered the ramp, and down rolled a little brown egg.
