First Egg Countdown

Hi everyone!
So thrilled we can join your thread! Here is my girl. She is five months old. Without warning she gave me her first egg last week!

Congratulations everybody...that endorphin rush was worth the wait, that's for sure.

My Sweet Lucyl has been restless all morning. I watched her closely and after 3 hours, I found her very first egg! It's a first for us both. I'm so happy!

I have 3 easter eggers from mcmurray that just got red combs. One is laying! Although not green... She has a single comb which I read is correlated with brown eggs. Ah well! It's a cute pullet egg :) my husband swears he sees a green tint but I don't- it's a yellowy beige tan color.

I got 2 new chickens and mingled it with the existing flock for about a month having a lite pecking but now one is practically bald in its head and comb is bleeding. put into isolation what do I do?

Clean her put, dab on some polysporin the put some blukote on the bloody spots. Aggression might not be the problem Chickens just seem to like pecking at red things. If she gets bloodied up again after the blukote more needs to be done. I generally isolate the chicken who is doing the pecking for a few days. This seems to adjust the pecking order in favor of the lower chickens.
