I figured it was like giving birth, if our pelvis has to widen why wouldn't there's.

The pelvis of a laying hen will widen. You can feel their pelvic bones. A laying hen will have about a 2 finger width, a non laying hen will have a 1 finger width.

All of them look red enough to start laying..............except the rooster of course.

lol 4 yolkers today 1 regular,,,,, They must be thanking me for letting them free range for 17 hours yesterday

Well there was only one egg yesterday from our barred rock. today my son checked the nest boxes early and found a green egg. I wanted to refill food and water in the coop this morning and there was a barred rock hanging out in the nest box. It seemed like it was taking her forever. Then finally my son came in and said he found two eggs. So I think my forever was two different barred's!

and just now I went outside to refill the outside waters and found a cracked egg. I think I found it before the other girls realized that there is good stuff in there. so the count for today is four, and it is still early!

Yep! The barred went first. I think the broken egg was a salmon favorall. At least that is what I saw sitting in that area about 3 min before I found the egg.
