First Egg Countdown

Woohoo! Twinkie, my Gold Comet, just laid her first egg! Man, she's a crazy overachiever, because it's jumbo sized. Poor thing!

Congrats Pele! I got a first egg today too. I think (and hope) it's from one of my barnevelder pullets and not my BSL. If it's my black sex link, then she has to go live in the other coop because the egg looks too much like a barnevelder egg.

Wow! I'm getting frustrated! I have 5 golden comets,6 barred rock and 2 black. All are 21 weeks old today and still NO EGGS!

I was really surprised at how long it took mine to lay. I know they are not production breeds but the first EE was at 24 weeks and my second was at 28 weeks. Someone pointed out that EEs can be a mix of any kind of chicken bred with an Americauna. So, apparently my two are very different. Still, 28 weeks is soooo long! Ah well, here is the beauty my little Sunshine gave me right before I left for the holidays (it is green, hard to show in lots of sunlight)

Congrats!

I got 2 first eggs today. One from a barnevelder and one from (I think) my BSL.
