First Egg Countdown

Sitting on my hands in the house... Went out to the coop and in one box I have 4 eggs, looks like 3 browns (the most browns in one day) in the nest directly under it the EE hen was sitting and the nest right beside her one of the pullet hens is sitting!!!!! I haven't gotten 3 brown eggs in one day since October but wont know if any of those are pullets til I go back out....So very happy

Got four out of the ten pullets walking up top the rooster and squatting....

Nice!

I got my first egg today from one of my leghorns! My daughter got to take home 9 of her class chicks. They were born sometime in November. I thought the hen laid her first egg a little early. I have no idea. I'm new to this whole raising chickens ordeal. They are starting to grow on me though. I talk to them everyday, and they are so sweet to chat back with me. I definitely thanked the hen for giving us her egg. I guess I'll be putting nesting boxes in the coop this weekend.

Pretty egg!!! Congrats! I got my boys to check after I spotted our first, too. Bring a camera! The expression is priceless!!!

I brought the camera but the pic didn't come out so well. My daughter said...I see an egg, I see an egg, I see an egg. At which point we had to tell her to get it lol. It was just like hearing kids at Christmas. Santa was here, Santa was here, Santa was here!

Totally! Yay for eggs!

Well no eggs from my pullets, the three brown eggs were to large to have come from them, so that means two of my australorps hens decided to lay on the same day ( they are over 3 and have slowed down)

went back out to check where the pullet was sitting and she had made herself a nice little nest, but didn't lay an egg...I wouldn't be surprised to find one tomorrow tho

Kids are great fun!! The first time our grandsons went to gather eggs was so much fun, to see and hear the excitement and then it became a game, we wouldn't let them gather unless they could count how many were there... Our oldest grandson who is almost 5 still has to count the eggs even though he can count way farther than what our hens lay...lol...

Could be a double yolker, but if not, then they are probably from your Australorps.

My 5 year old BR and Light Brahma have just started laying again. My BR still gave me 5-6 eggs a week last summer.
