same girls if they squat when I walk up is this a good sign of maybe thinking of eggs
I think that's a good sign that you can expect to see eggs in your near future! I've heard anything from 2-4 weeks, but it's such an individual thing!

My Hamburg pullets will squat for the cockerel, but they never do for me and they just started laying very recently. Of course, Hamburgs are a "bit" flighty. Lol!

And, actually, only three of my 13 pullets have laid yet and they are 27-28 weeks old right now. So, I think breed, time of year and so many other things factor into the equation. it's just so much fun to watch them get to that point, though, isn't it?

I got one! I got one! I don't believe it! I went out there to say goodbye to them while I head to a 4 hour shift at work, checked the nest box for the sheer sake of curiosity and right there, a small little Egg next to the Golf ball I had placed in there to train them where to lay! It was still warm... So must have been recent, as there was none this morning!

Here it is!

No idea which hen it is, but I have ma rough idea who it could be, Hopefully another tommorrow!

Yippee!!! Such a great feeling isn't it?

Another egg here today! The poor girl needed to lay while I had them out free ranging, she literally ran around for 1 1/2 hours looking for a place to lay! We have 8 nesting boxes, some in the coop and some outside of it, but she couldn't decide where to lay. She would go in and out of them scratching around, and even trying out a spot on our porch behind some plywood we have leaning up against the house. Lol!

She eventually made her way back to the same box where everyone has laid their eggs so far to lay, running as fast as she could but looking like she was trying to hold it in. I actually watched her lay it, amazing!

This is a picture of some of the eggs we've gotten over the last few days. They're beautiful!

Is she a leghorn? OR an americana ( dont know how to spell that word

) Because my americana lays very tan almost white eggs like that.

Oh and congrats to everyone

Congrats on all the eggs!!! I got my first colored egg from my EE Sunny!!! Finally someone besides the CMs! That makes 4 down and 10 to go! I was so excited to see her exploring the boxes. When she hopped out and I realized she was doing more than just looking... :) I probably scared her with my Whoop Whoop!!!
It's a very light blue/green. So hard to get the color right in the picture but its close.
