Congrats! Nice egg!
Welcome!Hi! This is my first post, although I have been browsing this site for monthsI have an EE and a Barnevelder who are 27 weeks old and a black silkie and a tan showgirl whom are 15 weeks old. My older ones are beyond ready, mature and old enough. I have been very frustrated! But yesterday I pulled out their poop tray (and I had not done so the day before) and found two splotches, I think one was a totally shell less egg and the others had a bit of a soft funky sac. So maybe one of them are getting started. They both squat, both sing the egg song- often, they have oyster shell available and they have the option of layer feed that I have placed higher than my younger ones can get to. I sometimes give them a handful of scratch, or a bit of cracked corn and dried mealworms. They do not currently free range because I want to be sure they know where eggs should go. So, I'm hoping they will start cranking putt some real eggs, like today! Right now would be good! LOL! I am away from home for the next few days though, so I'll probably miss it. I have told my sons they need to document whatever they find
~sigh~
I guess I'm a professional waiter here :-/
Yes, your prize is FINALLY getting an egg. I've waited 11 months before. That would be cool! Do I win a prize for having the oldest ever to just begin laying??![]()
Adorable egg!
They will gradually get bigger over time as their bodies adjust to laying. You may see a large increase in size after their first adult molt.Four eggs in four days! I'm so proud of my first girl who's started laying! They're still small, how long until they get bigger?
Nice eggs! I opened my lid today to find 3 chicks! I've had 10 broodies so far this year, so I've lost track of their hatch dates. I confirmed with the calendar and yep, right on time!Still enjoying these first few weeks of getting eggs. I love raising the lid on the nest boxes and seeing those little surprises my girls have left for me. So far we average about 2 eggs daily. We have 9 Buff Orpingtons at 25 weeks old and 3 Barred Rocks and 1 Plymouth Rock at 22 weeks old. We are only getting eggs from the BO right now.

Congrats! We found our first egg today!! We r super excited our girls r only 4 months old!! Way to go girls!!
Not the first egg, but it was my Red Star Marcy's 1 year anniversary of laying eggs. She has been a super-girl and laid 361 extra-large to Jumbo brown eggs in 365 days. If I also count the 3 penny size Misfires/eggs, then she laid 364 out of 365 days. Thats my Marcy folks and I don't feel ashamed bragging about it.
holy cow we found egg number 4 we must hav 2 laying now. My girls r only 17weeks old.We got egg #3 today can't wait for our other 5 to start laying and the ducks![]()
