@hausfrau77 that's one pretty chicky you have there, I love her comb! What kind is she? She sorta looks like my EE girls but her comb is different.

Got our first egg today from my GSL. She's 19 weeks.

My chickens are about 14 weeks old.

Thursday evening when I went to close up the coop, I found my very first egg on the floor! (Bottom in photo) Weight 1.05 ounces, and I blew it into a bowl to preserve the shell for posterity. It did have a yolk.

Nothing on Friday.

Last evening, another one! (Top in photo) Weighed in at 1.15 ounces.

I have Brown Leghorns, Dixie Rainbows and New Hampshires, all from Tractor Supply late in April.

Ah, I had a buttercup - I lost her last year at 4 1/2 years old. They are great birds. She shouldn't be too far from laying.

Thanks for the reply. I know it seems silly but confirmation that others get excited about their first eggs just like I do makes me feel a little less crazy. Especially when my spouse and kids look at me funny when I get super excited about what they consider trivial.

I am so excited one of my ducks started laying. I thought it took ducks longer to start laying then chickens. I am not sure which duck is laying.

Sofia was my first "chicken math" experience and we are so glad to have added her! She has become my favorite and we hope to have her for many years to come
