This is hilarious. I made a similar statement a few weeks ago. I was sending an update email to family and I included a picture of the chickens. I said it was ridiculous how much I love these chickens.

My problem us I gave no earthly idea how old 6 of my 9 are! Three if them are around 5/6 months, the other three were so emaciated when I got them they could be any age! Can't I chop off a leg and count the rings or something?
My older three are in moult- one has never laid, two have stopped for feather renewal. So out of 9 chickens I've got NO layers.
Grrr.

I look at it as I take care of them, I get to eat the first one.   Congrats!

Yes, adding the light could have made them stop laying temporarily.  Chickens don't like change, and any change can affect their laying.

I got a definite, no question about it, real squat today from one of my EE girls! Rubbing my hands together in anticipation of that first egg!
