First Egg Countdown

400
I'm starting to wonder about my speckled Sussex. At 22 weeks and 26 weeks we have seen no eggs yet!

No eggs, but a chick instead!

Grats, Katbird, on layer #2!

I finally got a 2nd layer! After 6 weeks of waiting #2 started laying yesterday. Now if the other 2 would get going.
They look huge compared to my tiny pullet egg. I hope my other girls don't make me wait much longer.

First egg!! Hooray! My Barred Rock, Roxanne, is the first of my five 23-week-old girls to lay an egg! So exciting! The days are so short and gray here in Seattle that I was afraid I'd have to wait until Spring -- but Roxanne came through for me! Yay!

she looks just like my girls! congratulations!

Yesterday we gained a 3rd layer. Hubby found the egg while I was at work, he said it was white! When I got home it was a definite green! Hubby swears it was white when he found it

My one and only EE has joint the layers!

Here is a picture of the new green egg, next to egg #4 (in 4 days!!) from another new layer! The big egg is from my only hen. I can't believe I gained 2 new layers this week!!

For some reason I wasn't watching the EE for signs that she would be laying, she is the smallest in the flock and lowest in the pecking order! Out of my original 5 chickens she's the first!

I LOVE the color of barred rock eggs when they are light! I cannot wait for mine to get on board! :) Congrats!
