First Egg Countdown

Now we are waiting on Buttercup, my lighter 18 week old red sex link. She has been just as noisy if not more so than ginger, but still hasn't squatted. We are also waiting on Mammas( my 15.5 week old barred rock).

Mammas is the pullet on your right( looks like she has a while to go still). She just got her big girl voice a week ago. She rotates between her chick voice and her hen voice. It's really cute. Buttercup(16 week old red star) is in the very back.

I swear I heard them laughing today.. Haha.. I know it will be any day now because it is getting obvious. But for real.. haha I am impatient. I am just too excited. Its like a kid at Christmas

I have been reading this thread since I first got my chicks. I have been dreaming about fresh eggs. It took such a long time BUT IT WAS SOOOOOOO WORTH IT!!! One of my 19 week old RIR was acting really weird today while free ranging. She went in the nesting boxes casually every 10 minutes just checking them out. Around 2pm I found this little brown egg. The white egg is store bought.

It is still great to get eggs even after having them for over a year. I am currently waiting on my Blue Marans to lay her first egg. She is 22 weeks old. After her, I have 16 week old Partridge Rocks on the waiting list.

You'll find the egg when you quit looking or you buy a dozen at the store.

That was almost like waiting to give birth..lol!! I can't believe the excitement I felt when I found that tiny egg. As foodieandeggs said, it was worth the wait! Even though I have my first egg I'm still really excited for the other girls to start laying. The lighter red sex link just squatted for me today. Looks like we'll see an egg soon from her.
