Haha that's awesome! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Two people had to stuff me into our Hyundai Elantra, and my skirts came almost up to my chin. It was really funny.

Those skirts are worth it though, I always knew that I would want the biggest one available. When else can you justify one like that?

And hey, now that I think about it, I kind of buy my chickens according to 'skirt' size. My Faverolles look like Victorian ladies gliding around the yard in their big bloomers. Hah!

This is Bug. My Olive Egger born June 1st this year, she's exactly 23 weeks old today. She's the first chick that came from chickens that I've hatched myself (from shipped eggs) and the first one hatched in general from my own chickens, so she's pretty special. Her parents are a little over a year old, her mom is a Lavender Americauna and dad is a French Black Copper Marans.

Thanks for the info on the SL's. I was kind of disappointed when our first one lightened up so much b/c I was really wanting a black one *which is why I bought a BSL*. I was new to chickens and didn't know that they didn't always stay black. Lol. Hopefully this one will stay that way!

Any thoughts on when these girls might lay? They are all 21 weeks old and I have had them since they were 8 weeks old. Actually, the Barnevelder was smaller and I suspect more like 6 weeks old when I got her. I understand this breed are late to start laying, so I guess she will be the last. The Rhode Island Red (Ladybird) has started singing and curtseying when I am close by, so maybe she will be the first. None of their combs and wattles are as large or red as I suspect they need to be. It is mid-spring here in Sydney, Australia - so I am hoping for an egg for Christmas. Surely?!?:!

Your australorp is the closest, followed by the campine - probably 2-3 weeks out. The australorp may lay a bit sooner. A ways to go yet on the other 2.

I ain't gonna lie... my carton full of color has been blowing my mind all day... I still can not get over how beautiful Inara's first egg is. I was expecting more of a standard brown color, but this gorgeous pebbly pink... Oh how I hope she lays 'em like this always.

I've been all chicken all the time on my Facebook lately because it seems that my flock is coming into lay at the rate of about one hen a day. And someone left a comment today that they did not know that chicken eggs came in so many colors. Another person commented that they couldn't understand why the green, pink and blue ones aren't more popular...

And I am all just... I know! I know!!!
