My Black Sex Link layed her first egg today! We heard the egg song this a.m. and went to check but did not see anything. Then, just to check, I went out about 4:30. One of the golf balls was covered up by shavings so I dug it out -- and there, covered up with the golf ball was a little brown pullet egg!

I put the golf ball back and covered it up again, then sent my granddaughter up to find it. She is almost 10 and has been waiting for this first egg with me. She came running down from the coop screaming with excitement.

Her white EE is also doing the "squat" so I think we will be getting a colored egg soon too.

    This is such fun!

My neighbor came over to visit one day and told me there was an egg on the front porch....in the flower pot I have on the floor.
I was jumping for joy and He didn't understand why !!!!!
He said, "it's just an egg"

    What do they know???

    (My first egg too !!!)
