I have a 18wk red star...she layed her first egg yesterday. But today she is acting so weird, which she did yesterday as well. For a few hours now she has been walking around acting strange. She is making loud noises and keeps going in to the nesting box and back out. Could there be something wrong. I am new at this. Just want to make sure that this is normal, and there is nothing wrong with her?? This is a few pictures of her first egg, and us comparing the size of store bought eggs.I want to say thank you to anyone that can help!!![]()

What is the best thing to put in nesting boxes?? Straw, hay, or shaving?? Thanks!!![]()
I use straw in nests and floor of coop. Haven't had a problem with mites. A coworker lost his small flock to moldy hay. I use to use pine shavings, but two of my five girls were habitual eaters of the shavings, and that can't be good. GCWhat is the best thing to put in nesting boxes?? Straw, hay, or shaving??
