My one pen is all younger chickens who I mostly hatched last year in my incubator (or bought locally as baby chicks.)
I found the first egg today in their nestboxes and it looks like a silkie egg. It could be pure or mixed, as I have a number of young Roos in there with alot of little ladies. 4 of the girls are buff silkies and 1 is a partridge Showgirl. Then I have 1 buff Roo and 1 Blue Roo, with other frizzled cochins, silver phoenix (bantam) and some misc roos who are waiting to go into the big pen or the backyard or someone else's family.
Anyways, I want to try hatching this and see if its fertile (for 1) and if it hatches, what it is (for 2.) I'm putting eggs into my bator tonight so it would basically be a test.
I'm so happy too because I found my ducks' first 3 eggs for this year.
