First egg today!

Went to feed and water the chickens and looked in the nest boxes I built the other day and the was an egg. Got 4 pullets turned 19 weeks old today. Sorry I have no camera. It was bigger than I expected. Kinda long and skinny and light brown. She laid it in the nest the first time no golf balls. They all got extra treats today!

Congrats!! I'm still waiting!! We're getting close to 20wks! I only have 2 bantams that lay tiny eggs every other day or so, not quite enough for a family of 7!

My first one was the same! I was so surprised that it was so big when I heard that they are small at first. Then the next one was small. I didnt eat them right away because I wanted to save up a few for the whole family. But when I did, that first one was a double yoker! Poor girl! Here is the 1st and 2nd

congrats on your first egg, i had my first one 2 days ago and since that little one i have had a soft shell egg and another tiddler this morning

just want my other hen to start laying now

Glad your wait is over.

My first four have been small, perfect little brown eggs. They seem to have the same size yolk just less white. Only 1 out of six - 20 week old BSL's is laying.
