So here in my area in Indiana, we just had our first significant snow last night. I went to let the ducks out of the pin earlier & there was an egg. I have no idea what to do with it. I was told they most likely wouldn't lay until spring because they recently matured. Apparently that was bad information.
I haven't purchased anything for eggs yet. Do I let the ducks take care of it? Will they even keep it warm enough? Do I run out & buy egg equipment?
I tried asking them whose egg it was but nobody wants to own up to it. They just all stared at me & waited for food. Lol
Help!

Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Collect it and eat it. :drool

What are you feeding? A layer will need a source of calcium available, usually oyster shell (OS).

I would not run out and buy equipment (just OS). Are you wanting to hatch ducklings right away? How many ducks/drakes have ya got? What breed? Do you have a plan or space for the extras?

I can't believe nobody confessed! :D

Congrats on your first egg! :woot

You could always eat it, I'd wait until March ish before you try incubating.
