First Egg!

Thank you! Once they lay in the nest box are they likely to lay there every time, or not necessarily?

Mine laid in nesting box for 3 days then right back on coop floor. It’s crazy. They keep kicking all of the straw out of boxes. Hopefully they will figure it out.

I'll be waiting to see where the next one ends up then, lol. The lip on our nesting boxes is quite high, and they haven't managed to kick too much of the shavings out (thankfully).

Yea my lip is about 2 inches. They try hard lol. I wish you well.

So egg-cited for you! I'm on day 4 of getting one egg a day from a cochin bantam. My 2 oldest girls (lavender orpington and black sex link) have yet to lay any. The bantam chose a cozy nook behind the boxes to lay. LoL

That's so awesome for you too! Have you eaten the eggs yet? If so, was the yolk a good color. As the first 2 are so small, I'm waiting for 2 or 3 more, so can then make a decent omelet. I never thought I'd get this egg-cited about chickens laying eggs
